We all try to stay busy in the everyday life. We will all have had instances where a friend, or someone of close relation has asked yo to do something with them or for them. It could be helping with work or going to see a movie, and you have replied with “sorry, I am too busy at the moment”.
I have had this happen to me so many times in the past and to this present day. Us humans all always want something to do in the day, we have become afraid of being bored.
Well, the simple answer to this problem is to look towards Buddhism, where a large amount either meditate religiously or are monks, they are the most contempt people in our current time. Mediation is a form of being bored/doing nothing and embracing it to focus on one’s soul and be in zen. It has been proven to be very effective in modern day society.
Dan Harris – an ABC presenter had a panic attack on live tv in front of millions, this was a big turning point in his life upon how much we are taking on. I have been reading a book recently called “The Productivity Project” in which the author states how there are 3 main things that really matter to you; and are what you should focus on. Dan Harris also took on this wisdom and simplified his life. He participates in meditation every single day so that he is reminded of his true values and what is most important to him.
So, next time you say you are busy, look back and see what you are focussing on. Ask yourself, “is this really important to me?”. You’ll find that a small majority of the work you do is important and meaningful to your life.
If you haven’t tried meditation before, you should, it is great.
