Being a good person

We should all strive to be this certain person. A person who looks out for all other people around them, a person who loves and cares for the strangers that they don’t even know yet. A lot of people do act like this, but not everyone does, and not for the right reason.

When i was younger, i really tried to be nice to people out of pure love for others. It was confusing for me to understand why there were certain people in this world who would choose to be closed-off and mean. Now my version of being nice has been twisted also, it took scanning through the 3 seasons of “The Good Place” on Netflix in an evening to gather this. I want to be nice to people, but a vast amount of the time it is because i want something out of it: a relationship, a physical good or even something as simple as a compliment. But hardly ever, i will help someone altruistically.

What i am going to do now on is to try to asses the reasons upon why i want to help or approach a certain situation with a certain attitude. Just doing something as simple as taking a step back to reassess your reasoning can be enlightening. Chidi taught me this, just deciding to make a difference can change everything.
